About the arcade

Promenade Arcade is a small website with three arcade games that open and run inside the web page itself: Seawall Breaker, Harbour Watch and Dockside Crates. Nothing needs installing and nobody needs an account.

The games are written in plain JavaScript and drawn on a canvas, with the sound synthesised by the browser. They are built to start quickly on an ordinary phone and to be comfortable to play with a thumb in portrait, as well as with a mouse or keyboard on a computer.

Every board is generated from a seed. Free play gets a new seed each time; the numbered levels and the daily challenge use fixed seeds, which is why they are the same for everyone. The generators check that every wall can be cleared and every wave can be beaten.

There is no advertising, no analytics and no sign-up. Your records, settings and unfinished games are written to this browser’s local storage and stay on your device.
